Organisms studied

Methods:	Water samples were collected at one meter intervals with a Van Dorn bottle or with a pump. Dissolved oxygen was determined by Winkler titration. Alkalinity was determined by acid titration to a pH end-point of 4.8. pH measurements were made at room temperature. All analyses were made at the field laboratory.
