Water, physics and chemistry sampled from designated stations of the above mentioned lakes. Temperature and conductivity were read on the YSI model 33, conductivity meter. Dissolved O2 was read on the YSI Model 57 and was water calibrated. Surface and underwater light transmissiion were read using LICOR digital light meter. Carbonate alkalinity was measured by titratingsamples with H2SO4 to a predetermined endpoint for each lake and stream (see Wetzel and Likens 1979). pH was measured with a Corning portable expanded scale standard pH meter and corrected for sample temperature.
