Methods:

Water samples were collected with a
pump at depths of 1.0 and 3.5 m. Dissolved oxygen was measured via Winkler
titration. Alkalinity was measured by acid titration. Primary production was
measured by the C-14 technique using 24 hour incubations at a depth of 1 m.
Water was filtered through 47 mm diameter glass fiber filters. Filters were
dried. Carbon and nitrogen were measured by combustion of filters in a
Perkin Elmer CHN elemental analyzer. Phosphorus was measured by colorimetric
analyses after extraction of phosphorus from filter with hot hydrochloric
acid. Another set of filters was not dried but were used for chlorophyll
analyses. Filters were extracted with cold acetone, and chlorophyll was
maesured with a flourometer. Temperature was measured with a mercury
thermometer.

Notes: These data were collected as reference samples
for the limnocorral N-15 fertilization experiments of 1989-1990.
