EDUCATION Sc.B., Geology-Biology Brown University, Providence, RI. Sept 2005 - May 2009. PROFESSIONAL & RESEARCH EXPERIENCE October 2009 – Present. Research Assistant – The Ecosystems Center, Marine Biological Laboratory, Woods Hole, MA. Utilize geochemical and microscopic techniques to examine marine biogeochemical cycling, participate in paleoclimate research through analysis of sediment cores, develop image analysis capabilities for biogeochemical and paleoclimate applications. Supervisor: Dr. Maureen Conte May 2008 – May 2009. Undergraduate Student Researcher - Brown University Department of Geological Sciences, Providence, RI. Analyzed the historical response of Narragansett Bay to nitrogen loading through analysis of sediment cores. Responsible for background scientific research, all laboratory work (geophysical measurements, organic extractions, fluorescence spectroscopy), and data analysis. Supervisor/Advisor: Dr. Warren Prell Summer 2007. Undergraduate Research Assistant - Brown University Department of Geological Sciences, Providence, RI. Studied dissolved oxygen dynamics in Narragansett Bay through in-situ sediment oxygen demand studies. Assisted lead course instructors with developing and executing lesson plans. Led lab exercises to increase students’ abilities to identify rocks and minerals and read geologic maps. Redesigned course to address past student criticisms. Led weekly discussion section of lecture material and assisted students requiring additional instruction.
