| Methods: | Sampling Description: Triplicate 10cm x 10cm subplots are clipped from control plots to within 1 cm of the sediment surface each month and transported in labelled bags to the laboratory to determine biomass. Samples are collected monthly from May through October. Numerical Processing: Plants from each bag are divided first into live or dead plants. The live plants are then divided by species. All plants are dried at 60°C, weighed, and weights are recorded. Annual productivity is determined using the Smalley method and SAS (SAS System for Windows; release 8.02; SAS Institute, Inc; Cary, NC). Data are reported as the mean annual productivity and standard error of the 3 plots (n=3). |
