EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN AND METHODS:  Litter bags with approximately 15-20 g of dried litter were deployed in the TSA, SP and TSA/SP transition zone in one transect of each creek branch on 1-Jul-03. 15 bags containing Spartina patens were placed in the SP zone, 10 bags containing Spartina alterniflora were placed in the TSA zone and 10 bags containing Spartina alterniflora were placed in the TSA/SP mixed zone. 3 SP bags, 2 TSA bags and 2 TSA/SP bags were recovered at 2 week, 1 month, 2 month, 3 month and 4 month intervals. Recovered litter was washed, oven dried and weighed to calculate % weight loss.
