EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN AND METHODS: Water samples were collected in the middle of the channel at the confluence and the start of each transect in all four creeks. Water was collected at slack high tide in all cases. Samples were brought back to the lab and filtered for total and fixed suspended solids.
NOTES AND COMMENTS: All data was collected in the middle of the channel unless otherwise noted. When not collected in channel, water was collected just outside of the channel.

CALCULATIONS:
For
TSS (after the 104 oven overnight) we again weigh them twice and average them
(Wt 1 and Wt 2).
TSS (mg/L) = ((((Wt 1 g+Wt 2
g)/2) - ((blk 1 g+blk 2
g)/2)))/ ml sample filtered) x
1000 mg/g x 1000 ml/L
After
the filter is muffled, the wt is taken once (MWt).
FSS (mg/L) = (MWt - ((blk 1 g+blk 2 g)/2))/ ml of sample filtered) x1000 mg/g x
1000ml/L
