EXPERIMENTAL DESIGN AND METHODS: Bamboo sticks painted with dyed water soluble glue were placed along each transect at the 4, 20, and 50 meter distances prior to a tide that flooded the marsh platform. The water on the marsh platform washes away the glue up the line left on the bamboo sticks.  A meter stick is then used to measure the height of the water line above the marsh surface.  Assuming that the water level is constant across the creek systems for a given tide, the relative elevation is determined.

NOTES AND COMMENTS:

The tide height listed is the recorded tide height from Ipswich Bay Yacht Club (IBYC).

CALCULATIONS:

For Relative Elevation

[Tide Height (cm) - Height to water mark (cm)] /100 = relative elevation (m)
