Data Directory

The database is currently being upgraded with XML structured Ecological Metadata Language (EML) structure. During this upgrade there will be a mix of EML compliant metadata and the older MS Word metadata.
The database includes graphs, maps, and short introductions as well as data and metadata documentation.
Upgraded metadata files can be viewed on line as HTML, Rich Text format (.rtf) or XML (EML compliant, Ecological Metadata Language). Data files are available as text (comma-delimited) files (*.dat), which are intended to be saved to a local computer and opened for viewing in a spreadsheet program. Data files are also available as Microsoft Excel files (*.xls) which include a sheet for metadata and a sheet for data.
Older data files are available as text (tab-delimited) files (*.txt), which are meant to be saved to a local computer and opened for viewing in a spreadsheet program. Some data files are also available as Microsoft Excel files (*.xls). Metadata files can be viewed online or downloaded as Microsoft Word documents (*.doc).
